Valentine's Day coffee kozie

Jazz up your morning coffee with a Valentine's day kozie!  Who says Valentine's day items have to be red or pink.  I am LOVING the black and aqua combo, lately.

What you will need:


I hook
H hook
Worsted (4) weight yarn (I used black [mc] and aqua [cc]
Scissors
Yarn needle

Abbrviations
ch-chain
hdc-half double crochet
dc-double crochet
sc- single crochet
rsc-reverse single crochet
st/st's-stitch/stitches
sl st- slip stitch
mc-main color
cc-contrast color

Special stitch:
Reverse single crochet (rsc):  Working left to right, work single crochet into the stitch to the right of your hook.

Coffee cup Kozie
Using h hook and black (mc) yarn

Ch 28
Sl st to first ch to form ring.  Do not twist.
Round 1: Ch 1, hdc each ch around.  (28 hdc)
Round 2-4: Repeat round 1
Round 5: Ch 1, [hdc in  next 13 st, 2 hdc in next st.]  Repeat 1 more time.  (30 hdc)
Round 6: Ch 1, hdc in each st around.  (30 hdc)
Fasten off


Using H hook and aqua (cc)
Attach cc to the last st worked

Round 7: Ch 1, rsc in each st around.  (30 rsc)
Fasten off.

Flip your work over to work around the bottom of the Kozie.

Join yarn with a sl st to the chain row.
Ch 1, rsc in each chain around.  Sl st to first rsc.  (28 rsc)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Heart:
Using I hook and aqua (cc)
Make magic circle
 (work all the stitches into the circle)
Ch 2, 3 dc, 3 hdc, ch 1, 1 dc, ch 1, 3 hdc, 3 dc, ch 1, sl st into ring.  Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Pull your magic circle closed tight and secure it.
Sew your heart onto the front of your Kozie, using the tail.
(optional)
Using your sewing needle stitch around the heart using the same color as your heart.

  3. rofl I learned not to take photos at night rofl
    and it is helpful to not have a small lamp on rofl I learned that the hard way rofl I was wondering why for 20 minutes the photos were that dark rofl
