Winterberry Headwrap.

I love this headwrap.  It works up in about 30 minutes (depending on how fast you crochet).  It is made with Homespun yarn, so it feels nice and warm.  For this pattern I dropped a couple hook sizes, from what I usually work with for this yarn, to give a bit of a warmer/tighter stitch.

Have you tried using Lion Brand Homespun?  Did you find that you didn't like working with it?  It is a very common complaint, not finding it easy to work with.  I, too, use to avoid homespun.  The secret for me was to work with a large hook.  I found that working with an N hook made it easier to get use to.  For me, I wasn't able to really see the top of my stitches and it would frustrate me.  Now, I find myself gravitating towards Homespun more than anything else, especially in the colder weather.

I promise, it gets easier!  Give it another try!  My Cozy Cowl Pattern is a great easy pattern to give Homespun another go!  My Cozy Cowl Pattern calls for Homespun and an N hook.

Ok, now for the Winterberry Headwrap pattern.  :)  This headwrap is "one size fits most".  It fits both me and my 4 year old very comfortably!  When I finished the headwrap, I decided it needed something, so I made one of my 3 layer flowers to attach.

Slanted Shell Convertible Shawl

While out with the family I saw a woman wearing a gorgeous "shrug".  I noticed that it was buttoned, rather than sewn secure.  It dawned on me that the "shrug" could be worn multiple ways.  I thought about it and thought it would make a fun project to figure out.
The stitch I used is similar to a stitch I saw on a friends baby blanket.  The stitch looks like the crosshatch stitch, or diagonal box stitch, though I did mine differently.  I just went from memory of what the stitch looked like and came up with a way to duplicate it.
Here is a close up of the stitch:

This was a lot of fun to make.   I hope you enjoy it too!

My Favorite Elf Hat

This was one of the first items I made up on my own, back when selling was my focus.  I think it is still my favorite hat to make and wear.  I will be making a few new ones this year.  I have the pattern listed as child 3-10, though the hat easily fits me, as well.  Really I think it's more of a one size fits most.  Gotta love a mostly universal pattern!  :)

Look how little my girlie is, in this picture!  Picture was taken a couple years ago.

Granny Stitch Poncho

This crochet project was fun to make.  I don't know what took me so long to think of it.  If you have made anything with the granny stitch, you are going to find this a breeze to make.  I have a feeling that this is going to get a lot of wear, once the weather cools down, of course.
I'd say that this pattern size is written for 3-5 years.  The pattern can be easily adjusted, though.  The collar of the poncho can be made larger or smaller by adding or subtracting from your beginning chain.  Of course the length is easily adjusted by adding or subtracting rounds.

Tulip Garden Scarf

Tulips are my FAVORITE Spring flower.  I wanted to make something that was Springy, but would keep me warm at the soccer fields.  It is always sooo windy out there.  Today I will be sporting my new scarf.  :)

Adult Bulky Beanie

It was suggested to me to make a pom pom hat, like the red infant hat.  I thought it was a fun idea, but was going to wait until the next hat season to make it.  That was until I received this in the mail:

My very own goodies!
Yep, my mom stuffed some homespun into a goody box that was for the kids.  *I* got some goodies, too.  :)  (Thanks mom!)  It was such a wonderful surprise.
Since I had some new yarn, I decided to sit down and work something up.  I decided not to put poms on this hat, but you could EASILY add them.
I LOVE how this yarn worked up.  The colors are gorgeous.  The hat itself works up really quickly and is easy to make.  This is what I came up with.

Airy Breath of Spring Scarf

I bought some yarn, not knowing what I was going to make with it.  I just loved the color.  The yarn is Hobby Lobby's "I love this yarn" in the color Peacock.  I don't think the photos do this color justice.  It is probably my new favorite color.
With no real plan in mind, I just picked up my hook and started playing around.  I ended up with this scarf.  I think it is perfect for Spring.

I used about half the skein for the scarf.  I think I will be making a matching hat, tonight.  :)

Simple Scarf Pattern

This is a crochet scarf that I have been making for a couple of years.  It works up really quickly and is easy to make.  It looks really great, too!  The scarf makes a great Christmas gift!  I know I am making one for my daughter in her favorite color.  I have already made a couple for myself as well!
Enjoy!!

Fun new hat!

It is not very often that I will buy a crochet pattern, but when I can't get something out of my mind for a couple of days I tend to cave.  This is one of those times.  A few days ago I saw a fb post for a really fun looking hat.  I tried to talk myself out of buying the pattern, I really did, but when I saw that there was a sale on the pattern I couldn't stop myself!  How can you pass up a sale?!
This is what I spent most of yesterday working on.

New hat.  Pattern by: Hooked in Yarn
Yep.  3 hats in one day.  It's not often that I am given that kind of time by my kids, but when I told them they could have what I was working on they were a bit more patient with me.  These are great in team colors!  (that is my orange and blue OKC Thunder hat.  THUNDER UP!)  I love the striped affect in the hat.  How pretty would this be in pink and purple?!  My daughter would LOVE that.
These hats have a fun little surprise.  They have a great reverse pattern.  This is the hat inside out:

How fun is that?!  2 very unique looks in one hat.  It's not very often that the inside of a hat looks as good as the inside.
The solid color hat is just as fantastic!  It has a wonderful texture.  I find the texture very fun.  So much more interesting that the typical HDC or DC that is usually seen.  I love that it's not just ribbed, but an actual texture throughout the hat.

Solid color.
All in all, I am VERY happy that I broke down and paid for a pattern.  I think this is the best buy that I have had in a long time.  I now have my eyes on another hat pattern of hers AND she has another item coming out in THIS pattern.  I can't wait to see it!!!

The adult hat is identical to this, only bigger.  (of course)
Ask and ye shall receive!
Last week I had a blog visitor ask me if I had an adult size pattern for my Pumpkin hat.  For some reason I hadn't thought of writing one.  I am so glad that it was asked!  Over the weekend I sat down and wrote up the pattern.  I hope you like it!  Now my daughter and I will have matching hats for the Pumpkin Farm in October!  She is just tickled pink that I have the same hat as she does.  :)

Back to school

No, not for me.  For my son.  He had his first day of 3rd grade last Friday.  Why they started on a Friday this year, I will never know.  LOL!  With being busy with back to school stuff at the end of last week I decided to give myself the weekend off.  Boy was that nice!  We spent a lot of time playing with the kids outside.  It was a very good family time weekend.
I did work something up though.  It took all weekend because I was just doing a few rounds at a time.  Who says only the kids should have a fun hat?

How great is that?!  I am going to be working on a child size, too.  I think this may be my next pattern.
Tonight I will be trying to get a variety of coffee sleeves made.  We'll see how I feel after the kids go to bed.

FINALLY!

It feels like it has taken FOREVER for my charger to get here.  In reality it has only been 5 or 6 days since it died.  I am so glad to have my patterns computer back.
Another thing that is finally here is VACATION!!!  Yep, we will be going home to visit family.  I am really looking forward to it.  :D  The break will be nice.
I will still be able to check in on my page, blog, and email.  (thank goodness)  No orders will be worked on until August 1st, though.
So, you wanna see something that I have been working on?  I think this is my FAVORITE so far.  I will definitely be making myself and my daughter one.  I think it is going to make great Christmas presents too!
