Building stock

It is going to be a busy weekend of hooking.  I really need to get some stock built up.  The busy season is practically here!  I am thinking newborn beanies, a couple pumpkin hats in a few sizes, coffee kozies, a few scarves, a couple ruffle scarves, and a few plain hats that can be jazzed up at a later time.  Oh!  Also a few pairs of slippers.
I also really need new pictures of my items for the Etsy shop.  Hopefully by Monday I will have enough finished for some more listings.  My shop looks sad with only 2 listings.  :(
I already have a few things on the hook.  That is a good start, right?

Easy Crochet Candy Stripe Hat Pattern

I hope you find this pattern as great as I do.  It is very easy to make.  This hat is done in rows and then seamed together, rather than working in the round.  If you have any questions about the pattern, leave a comment and I will answer asap!

Clean up your room!

I feel like a child who's mom told them to clean their room.

Swirls and Sprinkles: Clean your room
I cant' be the only one to try getting away with this!

I realized tonight that I am going to have to reorganize my patterns.  *eep!*  I want to stomp my feet and cry that I don't wanna!  In the long run, it is going to make the patterns much more organized and easily found.  In the meantime I think it is going to be a headache.
I will be very happy when I get this all finished.  :)

I get by with a little help from my friends...

What a great weekend.  Well, for a bust of a weekend it was good.  We had outdoor plans, but the forecast didn't look like it would cooperate.  We made the decision to stay home.  Of course the weather held out and it would have been perfect for our outside plans.  Go figure.  I know that if we had gone out that it would have rained the entire day.  That's just the way it goes  for me.

Since we stayed home, we got some cleaning done and I got my crochet on!  It isn't very often that I can get a lot of crocheting done on the weekend, so when it happens I feel accomplished.  :)

I can't wait to show you what I made!  Before I do though, I have to let you know that this was not my pattern.  The crochet community is fabulous.  There are so many talented artists out there!  This will be the first of more posts to come with patterns from other artists.  I love the idea of collaborating with other artists and hope to have some guest posts in the future.

This hat was designed by Corina at Stitch11.  She has a lot of fantastic patterns on her site, this is just one of the many that she offers.  I will provide a direct link to her pattern on my free pattern tab (up at the top of the page).
How adorable is that?!  I love this design.  The pattern is written out very clearly and is very easy to follow.

One of the wonderful things about crocheting is that once you know the basics you can do so much!  I have taken this hat as inspiration to make an adult size.  I will be writing up the pattern soon.  I have so many patterns to write up that I don't know where to start!  :)

I hope that you will take a moment to visit Stitch11 and take a look around.  Even take a second and say hello and tell her where you heard about her site.  ;)

Is it Autumn yet?!

For months my daughter has been asking me to make her a special hat.  I put it off only because I found it depressing to make it when it was over 100 degrees.  Now that it has cooled off some (high 80's low 90's who knew I would ever call that cooled off?) I picked up my hook and got to work.

Adorable, right?
She is so happy to finally have a pumpkin of her own.  I make a newborn pumpkin hat that she loves.  Now she has one all her own.  :)
I will get the pattern written up over the weekend.  I think this is my next free pattern.  Just in time for my favorite time of year!

EUREKA!

Swirls and Sprinkles: Crochet ruffle scarf.
It has taken an hour. Wonder if i have figured this out yet. I hope a picture shows up. If not I quit! Lol

Hip, hip, hurray!  It took me an hour to figure out how to get pictures to post using my dinosaur phone.  I finally did it, though.  I wish my phone took better pictures.  This is the black, white, and grey ruffle scarf that I am working on.  I am almost half way done.  This one is going to take two balls of yarn.  This is the second brand I have tried, and it is shorter than the first.  That's alright, though.  This brand has some sparkle on the ends and I think it gives the scarf a nice touch.
To anyone who gets notifications of blog posts.  I apologize for multiple post in a short period of time.  I was trying to figure all this mobile stuff out and had a few duds post.  :)

Back to school

No, not for me.  For my son.  He had his first day of 3rd grade last Friday.  Why they started on a Friday this year, I will never know.  LOL!  With being busy with back to school stuff at the end of last week I decided to give myself the weekend off.  Boy was that nice!  We spent a lot of time playing with the kids outside.  It was a very good family time weekend.
I did work something up though.  It took all weekend because I was just doing a few rounds at a time.  Who says only the kids should have a fun hat?

How great is that?!  I am going to be working on a child size, too.  I think this may be my next pattern.
Tonight I will be trying to get a variety of coffee sleeves made.  We'll see how I feel after the kids go to bed.

Who says YOLO?

I have had so many ideas floating around in my head.  I finally sat down and worked one of them up.  Let me tell you, it feels GREAT to check something off of the list.  Of course, I finish one thing and think of three more.  LOL!
So, who says you only live once?  This hat takes care of that!

1-up Mushroom.  I am working on a red one, too!
I have to say, there is something strange about making something that feels like a blast from my past, but is still very popular today.  I think I made my son the happiest kid on the block, tonight.
Now, on to the next project.  :)

Slow couple of days

So...not much going on these last couple of days.  Not to say that it hasn't been busy, just not very busy with crochet.
My son starts school on Friday.  Can you believe that, a FRIDAY!  Is it just me or is that a little strange?  Today we went to his school to find out who his teacher is.  I am very happy to say that I think she is going to be wonderful.  I am having a hard time adjusting to the fact that I have a 3rd grader.  I don't know where the time goes.
With school starting that means that I will be working on some pre-k skills with my daughter.  Next year she will be old enough to start pre-k.
I am looking forward to the weather cooling off.  Well at least for it to start up north.  Here in OK we don't start to really cool down until November.  I really enjoy the busy crochet season.  I think I have a lot of really great new items this year.  I have a great child slipper that I will be debuting soon.  I am really excited about them.  I made a pair for each of my kids and they both like them.  It's not always easy to please them both!

Since I haven't really worked on anything new over the last couple of days,  I will leave you will something cute.  My daughter doing her duck face.  :D

Monday already?

I don't know where the weekend went.  Over the weekend I didn't get as much finished as I had hoped to.  We just took it easy at home and did some relaxing.
I did manage to finally finish the bright pink hat, though!

Time to turn in

Swirls and Sprinkles: Easy crochet ribbed beret hat
Pattern by: Mamachee
I finally got pictures taken of the sage hat that I mentioned in my last post.  My daughter LOVES it!  She has now claimed this one as hers and hers alone.  Is she the cutest thing ever, or what?!
This shows the detail a bit better:

I also changed up my water bottle Kozie a bit.  The old style has a long strap so you can carry it on your shoulder:

This new Kozie has a short strap that you can button around the handle of your stroller or shopping cart!  Handy, no?

It can hold nearly any size container.  Large and small bottles, bottled water, and can be made to fit sports bottles.
I will be writing up a pattern for the new Kozie in the next few days.
There are a few more things that I have worked on, but I will post about them tomorrow.  Time for this tired pup to crawl under the covers and catch some zzzz's.

Keeping busy.

Yes, that is what I have been doing.  Keeping busy.  I have a few new pieces made.  I still need to take pictures and write up the patterns.  The patterns may take me a while.  I didn't write as I went, which is much easier than writing after the fact.
I am also working on another hat like this one:

Pattern by: Mamachee
The one I am working on is in a really pretty sage color.  It should fit my daughter, so I will be able to get some better pictures of it.  It really is a beautiful hat!
I think I need to start finding some models for my items.  I have made a lot of newborn and baby hats, but don't have great pictures of them, yet.
Ok, enough procrastinating, I should get back to hooking, or I will never get this hat finished!

Shhh!

Our cable, internet, and phone have been out since about 6pm.  It was  WONDERFUL evening with the hubs and kids.  There was very little fighting, we played games, and I was able to get two small pieces made.
After everyone went to bed, I remembered that we still have some time left on our mobile web thingy.  We always buy a little time when we are on vacation, but we never end up using it all, and some of the minutes get wasted.  I am glad that I remembered about it because I was able to save a few extra patterns to my computer, to keep myself busy tonight.
I have my hooks, yarn, patterns and the movie Elf (one of my favorite movies ever!) to keep me company.
So, this post will just be our little secret!  No need to tell the hubs that I got my interwebz fix after he went to bed.  ;)

Amazing

It is amazing how much can get done AFTER the kids are in bed.  Don't get me wrong, my kids are wonderful!  They kept each other busy for a while today while I crocheted and wrote.  I was able to make 2 pieces and write the pattern.  Of course I had to stop a lot to break up fights and get drinks and switch games and make lunch and clean messes and and and.....(the life of a stay at home mom)  That was all the kids had patience for though.  I had to wait to get pictures up and the pattern typed out.  I am not always so lucky, so I am very happy to have gotten so much done in one afternoon.
Now it is time to upload the pictures and pattern.

Pictures and pattern is up!  Here it is!
This was the first one I made.  There are a couple others pictured with the pattern.

Another new crochet pattern

Yep, while I watched the Olympic US women's soccer team, I worked up a new project.  I am almost finished writing up the pattern.  Once my camera battery is charged I will get pictures up.  I am hoping to get it all done tonight before bed.
I have so many project ideas floating around in my head.  I can't get them worked up fast enough.

Easy Crochet Bag

I worked up another new crocheted bag.  It worked up really quickly and I think is going to be my new go-to bag.  I am working up the pattern and will post it later.
Here is a picture, for now.

                                         Soap Saver Pattern
Swirls and Sprinkles: Easy crochet soap saver pattern

This is a pattern for a soap saver.  My kids LOVE theirs.  Not only do they keep the soap from slipping out of your hand, but the texture helps scrub all the dirt off.  The pattern works up very quickly.  I hope you like it!!

This is a free pattern for anybody to use.  You may not copy and sell the pattern, but you may do what you wish with the finished product.  I only ask that if you sell the Soap Saver that you give credit and provide a link to my blog.

What your will need:
G hook
Worsted cotton yarn

Keep it clean

Last night, while watching gymnastics (yay team U.S.A!), I worked up a new pattern.  I had to channel all the nervous energy (I am a CRAZY gymnastics fan)  and crochet is the perfect way.  Keeps my hands busy!
I am really excited about the new item.  Any guesses of what it could be?  The title of the post is a hint!
I will be getting pictures up by tonight as well as getting the pattern put together to post.
